We have peafowl and ornamental pheasants for the enjoyment that they give us and our visitors. Our aviaries were constructed to make the birds as comfortable as possible and to help the viewers enjoy the scenery. We also have some birds to sell so others may enjoy them at their homes. We have a few different varieties of peafowl (or peacocks as they are often called). Males are peacocks and females are peahens, but to a lot of people they are all peacocks. We do not have as many varieties as we once had. We only carry a few varieties now.
We have these varieties:
India Blues
India Blue Pieds
India Blue Silver Pieds
Black Shoulders Silver Pieds
Java Green(Muticus-Muticus)
We also have several varieties of Ornamental Pheasants, and other fowl.
We love all of our peafowl and pheasants and we believe they are all beautiful birds. They are a joy to be around and observe their activities. As you can probably tell from the pictures above, we think the Java Green(Muticus-Muticus) peafowl are very special birds. Actually the Muticus-Muticus are the Java Greens and the other two sub species of Green peafowl are the Indo-Chinese(Muticus-Imperators) and the Burmese(Muticus-Specifiers). All of the Green peafowl(Pavo Muticus) are special birds, but we have only raised the Java Greens until recently. Now we do have some Muticus-Imperators and they are very beautiful birds.
We always intend to try to keep some India Blue peafowl available as they are the most popular variety of peafowl and also one of the most beautiful varieties. We enjoy them. Sometimes we may not have any available because they are so popular. We also try to keep some of the other varieties available. But we are cutting back on some of the varieties that we are keeping. If we do not have the bird that you want then we will try to help you find one, if you would like for us to.
We are concentrating on the Java Greens, India Blues, and Black Shoulders Silver Pieds and several of the ornamental pheasant varieties. We have some great breeder stock of Java Greens(Muticus-Muticus),Temminck Tragopan pheasants, Himalayan Monals(Impeyans) pheasants, and several other varieties of pheasants. We have also recently got some Palawan Peacock Pheasants to further advance our exotic pheasants collection.
JANUARY 22, 2012 We are into a new year now and we have had a real mild winter so far. I know that it is not over yet but we are having temps in the 50's and even 60's at times. It makes me think I am back in Northwest Florida or South Alabama again. We are getting some rain lately, which we need very much. Our nearby Lake Lanier sure could use a lot of water to bring the lake level back up. I need to be cleaning up some pens, incubators, etc and getting ready for the hatching season which will be here pretty soon. But I have been lagging on that as I have had some health problems and also some lazy problems...lol.. The peafowl, pheasants, ducks, and chickens are really looking good now. Hopefully we will have a good hatch from our breeders.
We appreciate the calls and emails that we have received complementing us on our website and checking to see if we might have some birds that you might want. We don't have very many available at this time but hopefully we will have some more chicks coming along soon.
So until we meet again, as Roy Rogers would say, Happy Trails to you! Have a great day and smile...It is good for you.
